Sod turned on IDA Ireland’s new Advance Building Solution in Mullingar

MULLINGAR Construction is underway on IDA Ireland’s cutting-edge Advance Building Solution (ABS). This exciting development promising high-quality, purpose-built space for businesses seeking growth and investment opportunities. The project marks a significant step towards further positioning Mullingar and the Midlands region as a hub for foreign direct investment and innovation.

Following a comprehensive public procurement process, Tracey Brothers has been selected to deliver the new 4,727m² Advanced Building Solution on IDA lands in Mullingar. The facility is designed to provide some 3,500m m² of modern production space, complemented by office accommodation of some 570 m² across two floors and ancillary space to support the evolving needs of current and future FDI companies.

Minister for Enterprise Tourism & Employment, Peter Burke TD said: ‘I am delighted to be in Mullingar today, my hometown, to mark the breaking of ground for the development of a significant state-of-the-art facility by IDA Ireland.  This is a welcome investment for our town and the Midlands region.

Regional development is a priority for me as Minister and a key focus of my department. The Regional Property Programme plays a central role in delivering this by providing property solutions that meet the needs of businesses, so that we have buildings ready to go when companies are seeking a location for investment.  Mullingar is exceptionally well-placed in this regard with excellent rail and road access, top class internet connectivity, a high-quality workforce and only an hour from both Dublin City Centre and Dublin airport.  IDA Ireland’s regional strategy has a proven track record of success, and the agency, with the support of my department, is committed to building on this in the years ahead as we will have a ready-to-adapt building to market to prospective clients across all the country,  including here in Westmeath and the Midlands.’

Executive Director of IDA Ireland, Mary Buckey said: “Delivering high-quality, innovative, and cost-effective property and infrastructure solutions is critical to meeting the needs of multinational companies seeking to invest in Ireland. Our regional property programme is central to ensuring a consistent pipeline of land, buildings, and infrastructure in regional areas, supporting both existing and prospective clients. A dynamic property and infrastructure ecosystem can set us apart in attracting FDI projects, and we are delighted to initiate construction of this ABS in Mullingar and the Midland’s region”

With flexibility for expansion built into the site, the building is poised for future growth. In line with IDA Ireland’s sustainability pillar in our new strategy – Adapt Intelligently - the project is designed to achieve LEED Accreditation and will feature a suite of measures aimed at reducing carbon emissions underscoring a strong commitment to environmental best practices.
